North Carolina Primary Election is March 3rd, 2026
The North Carolina primary election is scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Early voting begins in mid-February, and the deadline to register to vote for the primaries is February 6, 2026 (5 p.m.).
Who Can Vote in District 16?
North Carolina’s 16th District includes all of Pender County and parts of Southern Onslow County including Holly Ridge and Sneads Ferry.
Republican Primary Voting Rules
North Carolina uses a semi-closed primary system:
Registered Republicans can vote on the Republican primary ballot.
Registered Unaffiliated voters may choose to vote in the Republican primary or the Democratic primary — but they can only vote in one party’s primary in this election.

General Election is November 3rd, 2026
General Election Day: Tuesday, November 3, 2026 — this is when voters across North Carolina choose officeholders for federal, state, and local offices, including Congress and the state legislature.
Voter Registration Deadline: 5 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026 — you must be registered by this date to vote in the November election.
Early Voting: Thursday, October 15 – Saturday, October 31, 2026 — voters can cast their ballots in person before Election Day.
Absentee Ballot Deadlines: Request by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, and return your ballot by Election Day.

Early Voting in North Carolina — 2026
☑️ 2026 Primary Election (March 3, 2026)
Early in-person voting begins: Thursday, February 12, 2026
Early voting ends: 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026
During this period, you can vote in person at any early voting site in your county — and you can even register to vote or update your registration at the same time.
☑️ 2026 General Election (Nov. 3, 2026)
Early in-person voting begins: Thursday, October 15, 2026
Early voting ends: 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2026
Just like in the primary, early voting lets you cast your ballot in person at any early voting location in your county before Election Day.
Registered voters in North Carolina can request an absentee ballot with an official NC Absentee Ballot Request Form. There are two ways to access and submit the form:
Online: Option 1 at the NC Absentee Ballot Portal.
On paper: 2026 NC Absentee Ballot Request Form (fillable PDF).
After completing, submit the form to your county board of elections in person or by mail.
Your ballot must be received by your county board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day to count.
